This book tells the story of how institutions can turn authority against the very professionals tasked with advancing gender equality.
In a pivotal meeting, my feminist analysis was treated as misconduct, my professional expertise was trivialized and my gender advocacy was perceived as disruptive rather than developmental.
I felt that the label “troublemaker,” in particular, functioned as an administrative weapon. It discredited my work without requiring evidence. My contributions — the design of gender-responsive policies, the creation of accountability tools and the integration of gender analysis into multimillion-dollar projects — were overshadowed, while my work was reduced to the supposed nuisance of one woman’s temperament.
What followed, in my account, was a pattern of intimidation, professional delegitimization and ultimately dismissal.
But I refused to be silenced.
Instead, I challenged what I regarded as harassment and abuse of authority before the institution’s Administrative Tribunal, raising broader questions about institutional accountability, leadership, gender politics and workplace justice.
